ticking noise

my bike has started making a ticking noise is there any chance it could be the vaulves. it is a 96 b6 with 6300 miles/. thanks

There's a good chance it could be the valves... you're approaching the 7500 mile recommended check anyway.

Keep in mind the B6 (&12) normally have noisey valves anyway. If they get quiet, they're too tight (and this happens on fresh engines/heads as the valves bed into the seats).

I started getting some ticking on my B12.  I went ahead and changed the oil and filled up with a full synthetic.  I don't notice it now.  I didn't think I was riding hard this summer, but the semi-synthetic oil I used before seemed to break down faster.  We'll see.
