rear brake caliper bandit 6
« on: December 31, 2005, 12:27:14 PM »
Hope you all had a good christmas, Looking forward to bringing the new year in tonight

right...rear caliper.
Looks like the pads have never been out and i'm trying to remove the pins that hold them in, any ideas??
why there isn't a hole the other end so they can be knocked through with a punch i'll never know. tried to split the caliper but after hitting it as hard as i dare with a [nylon] hammer it wont budge. one of the pistons is seized but i'm hoping with the pads out (they've had it) and a bit of jiggery pokery it'll free. any comments or advice is welcome.

happy new year  :beers:

Seems like we've had this posted here once or twice before.
Lube up the pins with a penetrating oil or Break-Free. If that doesn't loosen them up enough to make life easier, you may need to grip them with little visegrips and hammer on the pliers. Worst case scenario is to drill them out and buy new pins.
