Excellent! Yes I did see that episode of pinks. Typical Harley rider-full of excuses! I'd love to see some racing from the Texas mile! SWEET!

This may sound strange, but it goes right to the v-rod vs suzuki . A few years ago I met my half brother (some father), since we met we were always trying to find stuff to be brother with, you know cars, bikes, boats, etc. Well at the begining of summer he bougth it # 17 of 50 tribal paint scheme V- Rods. He ammediately called me. We went for are first ride :blah: . Then he did it, setting at a red light he starts revving his engine like he wants to race. The first time I let him go. The next light he ask me if I was scared of the v-rod. I hate street racing, but theres no way I`m going to let my new older bro insult the bandit. We raced he lost , now when we ride together he stays behind me. We still play around a little bit , but keep it safe.
It is what it is and thats all it is till it is no more

Sounds great! I was thinking about the cable clutch conversion myself. I know the katana 600 set up works. What about other suzuki's and what years do I need to look for?

I am using the Katana conversion from e-bay, $9.00, and I had to buy a new cable. Any of the oil cooled gsxrs, with cable clutch should work, like the older GSXR 750s.
About horsepower, you need to keep in mind, that Horsepower is a caculation, based on torque. My bike makes 155 hp, 81.4 torque at 10,000 rpms. I could advance the cam timing so that it makes the 81.4 torque at 9,500 and it would make 147 horse power, and it would probabley be just as quick in the quarter even with less hp, may even be a little quicker in the 1/8. We should never get hung up on hp numbers.
My last dragbike was a GSXR with a 1216 kit, stock head, cams and carbs, but was set up just for the 1/4 mile, ran 9.60s at 133/135 mph, with less hp.
Setup gives you good ETs, Horsepower will give you good MPH

How does the factory starter handle the 13:1 compression? Any problems with it so far?

Hi,

Sorry to butt in with what may well be a stupid question...

Where you required to do a cable clutch conversion due to building a stronger clutch with other parts not compatible with the stock hydraulic clutch or would it be possible/lend any advantage to do the conversion without swaping any other parts?

:thanks: in advance even if this may be mechanics 101!

The cable clutch is for a better feel, or better control leaving the line,  for dragracing. It would be a waste for street riding.

Isn't the cable system a few ounces lighter than the hydraulic, too?

It would be some lighter, but that wouldn't help me, I've gone from 216 lbs to 240lbs in the last 18 months. It probabley want run in the 9s with me on it. :beers:
