I think the tread patterns are derived from those developed for high speed Korean tractors, Rob.....

My buddy just put one ( the race soft compound) on his Hayabusa for drag racing. Last two seasons he had a drag slick. This Shinko will not let him do a burnout. It's that sticky. Can't say anything about tire life and we won't find out from him as it's totally a drag race bike.

Shinko's for me, Shinko's for everyone!

Hey guys!

Well, we're about to find out about these Shinko's.
I just ordered a set of the 009 'Raven' sport touring tires for my '02 b12s.
I'll post opinions once they are on.  I'm replacing the stock Macadam 90X crap-O-rubbers, so almost anything has to be an improvement!  I got both front and rear in stock size for $154 shipped.  That's about $50 less than the lowest Metzeler set I could find on the web.  I plan to have Ron Ayers install them if they (the tires) ever show up.  I gotta say, so far I'm not impressed with AZ motorsports' customer service.  We'll see how it all plays out though...

Shiny side up!

Ye ha.

At last I have managed to get a shinko 005 for the front of the B6. watch this space for the full report.

Gee I hope its as good as the 009 on the back, boy racers watch out, no more shitty MEZ4 on the front, the weak link in the past.

Ok we finally got some weather over the week end that was, lets just say, dry enough to at least scrub a new front tyre in.
Well I am not suprised at all, after having used the 009 on the rear of the b6 now for couple of years now.
At first I must admitt, it felt strange, it tracked extremely well, and its straight line stablity was there, from the start. And it did take about 40 k's to work out the right tyre pressure, I started at 37psi what I used in the MEZ4, and finally settled for 35psi, but I feel its still a little to hard, over the next month and with a few weekend rides and daily work riding to work it out.
As most people that I know of who are all die hard shinko users, the strangness soon disapears, its willingness to turn in and fall over, is soon accepted and used to good effect. So much so that the 10mm of forks I have sitting up through the upper triple tree will remain. Yes the best of both worlds my friends, its extremely stable in a straight line and it turns in real smart.   as I said before in a earlier post boy racers watch out, the B6 has always been an eager beaver both in and out of corners, but now with less effort and more confidence. , this tyre is going to crap over the MEZ4, and by what people I know who are using the 005 on the front, I should still get the same mileage out of. Mind you the MEZ4 did last 30,000 k's  18,000 miles. But even if it dont last as long the RRP, is like 2/3 of the RRP of the MEZ4.
Dont get me wrong for many years I've been a fan of the MEZ4 its a great allrounder, and if I had not been able to finally get the importer to bring one in, I would have undoubtably put another MEZ4 on the front again.

Update 14 July
Happy as a pig in pooh, Melb has thrown its worst motorcycling weather at me for 2 days, Bloody cold and wet, if the bloody thing was going to let go it would have.

Update 15 July
Yeha, some dry weather, and with the confidence built up in the worst weather, its not long before both left and right hand pegs are copping the road way lightening system.

Well, mounted my 009's today.  They definately feel different.  Ya gotta love 2 tires shipped mounted and balanced for under $200.00!!!!  I have always ran Bridgestone BT010/14's in the past.  The front end feels much lighter, and it feels as if the tires turn in quicker, but I can also feel the rear end trying to pull it out of the turn at the same time.

Maybe just takes some getting used to.  Excellent grip so far, even when brand new!  I will update as the miles are layed down.

Mate I know what ya saying, everybody I know who has tried them says exactly the same thing. I to said it the first time round, but trust me when you get used to the feel, it will all come naturally. BTW everybody who I ride with have now tried the shinko's, some have gone the full sports 003, but most have gone with the 005 front and 005 0r 009 rear.
Not one of them is considering going and putting anything else on after they are worn out.

Mate if this is what they call cheap korean shit, I would love to try out some of thier expensive stuff.

Hey I'm back from installing my Shinko rear tire! Glad its on no more procrastinating for me! I got another week 200+ miles out of it, and i must say these tires are very impressive even when you look at the guts of em! The 009 still has a good bit of rubber 2/32's left even after it was smooth! Can't say that for other tires close to this $ range! For the low air pressure track rider i will add this! the 009 which isn't a track tire, came off the bead easier than any other I've changed! I cut thru the baldest spot with a razor knife, (check out how much was left) cut to the bead, side cutter the steel! slip new one on with armoral! 45 min job start to finish now I've been thru it 7 times. I was braggin about my PC the other day on this site, it crashed rite after! power supply I'm almost sure? won't do anything now! Anyone had one do this and not hurt anything else?  :beers:

2500 miles on my 009's.  Still love 'em!  Barely any where on the rear, just a little rounding of the edges where the tread grooves are.  By comparison any tire I have had on in the past would be nearing about half of its life by now.

Ok I have with a little help from Donna nearly killed the second 009 rear on the b6, this one is still legal but only just and has clocked up 22 thousand K's. I could be possible to sqeeze another 2 thousand K's out of it, but hey now working at the shop, and the xmas police blitzes coming up i'm going to change it. The front 005 with nearly five thousands k's is look good for a 20 to 30 thousand k's, not bad for tyre that sticks like shyte to a blanket. BTW the ZXR is getting a 190/5017 005 on it next week, hate the bridgestone thats on it now

I just installed a set of Shinko 005s Advance on my 98 Bandit 12.  I put the stock size on the front and a 190 on the rear.  The profile of the rear tire looks a little flat in the middle but I didn't notice any effects on the handling of my motorcycle.  I have about 40 miles on them so far and have layed the bike into some corners and these tires stick very well.  My confidence builds everytime I ride! I will keep everyone posted about what kind of milage I get out of them. I just finished up a set of the Battle Ax 020s and got just over 5k out of them.  I sure hope these will give me the same milage and it feels like they are a much stickier tire.  I do ride pretty hard so it will be interesting to see how the rear holds up.  By the way I did not have to move the rear caliper support at all to fit a 190 size tire!!  :bigok:

Well, 2500 miles on my 009's.  I am amazed there is virtually no wear on them!  Notice in the pic below that the trailing tread groove edges have a slight radius.  That is the noticeable wear to these tires.

I took my bike for a short ride a last weekend, the temp was about 40°F, snow melting, road salty and wet.  I pulled the bike out of my driveway rev'd it up dumped the clutch intending to do a burnout, and instead she rared up on a wheelie!  I was impressed!
