I just ordered a set of 009s last night.  Im still wondering about them but for a $150 a set shipped, Its more than worth a shot.  The flat profile bothers me, but it cant be any worse in a lean than these squared-off battlax's.
I used to think the brain was the most fascinating organ in the body.  Then I thought, 'well sure, look who's telling me that.'

He said the 005's had a flat profile, not the 009's.

I have the 005's and love 'em.... haven't noticed a flat profile myself.  What are you running your pressure at?

He was using a 190 on the 5.5 " Bandit wheel. These tires are the widest i have ever used. True to size not like some. A 190 is bigger than a 180.  :beers:  :beers:  :bigok:  :congrats:

I reread and he was talking about the 005s being too flat.  D'oh.  Im going to get them mounted and scrubbed in friday, and do a little roadtest saturday evening.  Even with the crap-o originals my chicken strips are about 1/8", both sides, so Im pretty stoked to see how the shinkos compare.  If I dont like them they'll prolly be toast before the weather starts warming up again anyway.

The only tire that has a flat profile is the rear.  The front one has a normal profile.  Its really not a problem unless you were planning on thrashing your bike on a track day where your leaning way over.  Then you would have reduced traction due to the smaller contact patch area.

Its a saga as usual.  Ridenow sent me the wrong #$%^& tire.  I got a 009 front and an 003 rear.  So, they sent me a shipping label and I returned the bastard, but they wont send my *right* tire until they get the *wrong* tire back.  So Ill be running on the wear bars for probably 2 more weeks (including a possible 600 mile weekend this weekend).  Ugh.

On a more positive note, I went ahead and got the front put on.  So far Im pretty impressed.  It was balanced right out of the box, no weights needed.  I put about 200 miles on it over the weekend, and its pretty good thus far.  I cant really comment on the stickiness yet, but grip is at least as good as the stock battlax, if not better.  I rode home in the rain last night and it felt nice.  Seems like the bike is really willing to fall into a lean and stay there, much more so than the battlax.  Naturally this comes at the price of some straight line stability, but overall its good in all conditions.  No shakes or other scary mischief at a sustained 110, So it looks promising.  More once I actually get the rear and get it scrubbed in.

GSFStiny that just sucks! The first time i ordered from them they were out of the 009's but kept me hanging for a few weeks. Bad enough, but to send the wrong one thinkin you would just keep it sucks. You will be very pleased with them both after you get em on. I bet even the hi speed stability will also impress you! :beers:

Well, I finally got my 009 rear and got it mounted last thursday.  To say the least it got a trial by fire.  Its first ride was a 150 mile interstate jaunt in pouring rain.  The first few miles were, ahem, a character building experience, but after that it felt surprisingly good for a new tire in the rain.  Thus far I have almost 900 miles on the front (damn Ive been riding alot) and I put about 600 on the rear over the weekend.  Im still getting used to the handling characteristics, but thus far Im pleased.  They take a while to warm up, at least 4 or 5 miles, but once warm they seem to grip fairly well.  Im not ready to bow down and sing praises to the shinko gods just yet, but I plan on hitting some hardcore twisties before work tomorrow, so Ill know for sure.  I still have about 3/4 " chicken strips left (as opposed to about 1/8" with the stockers)  even though ive been dragging boots in hard turns.  More tomrrow when after I go out and hammer on it a bit.

Oh BTW Daytona, they feel pretty sweet at high speed, took them to about 120 this weekend and aside from the scaryass stock springs it felt really good.

*edit*--Felt great in the twisties, but I could feel the limit coming.  If it starts to bother me Ill drop the pressure a little and see if it helps any.  Right now Im at ~36 ish psi front and 38 in the rear.  They show no wear whatsoever after the the first 1k.  With any luck Theyll last til summer, then Im going to mount some grippy tires because I hope to get down to the dragon as well as ride in the national GS convention here in WV next year.  The gummies will be toast before august.

I'm just about done with my second Shinko 009 Raven rear tire.  I took it off so I could have fresh rubber on an upcoming trip (lots of twisties - drool).  Once I get back, I'll put the Shinko back on since there is more tread left in spite of the flat spot.  Current mileage - 8,300 of hard riding... this baby hasn't been babied.  I'll post up the final mileage when it's totally used up.

BTW.... Shinko's totally rock - get you some!!!! :beers:

Just 4 the h of it a 190 stinko is the same size as a 200 bridg BT014. The 200 is a whopper in a stinko. I hope they aren't made in the wrong Korea!!! :duh:  :beers:

Some say the 190 tire will fit on the B12 with no additional, other than just mounting it! I found I had to move the rear caliper brace out board of the bracket on the swing arm. (Fwd Brace only) Just unbolt move out on the 2 tabs and rebolt The 190 Shinko is as wide as any other's 200! The 5.5" rim is the min width they say can be used. I think it makes it wear in the middle a bit more than the 180 but only if you run the psi they say is max. U won't be anything but happy with it they rock! The 009's are the only ones I've used. Got 8K miles from em!!!   :beers:  :beers:  :bigok:
