Race Tech Valves????
« on: May 09, 2008, 01:05:11 PM »
hi all
im from the uk and have seen a lot of you run race tech valves
im currently running wp fork springs and the bandit 1200 still seems to travel a long way
what do the race tech valve do? are they worth the money? are there any alternatives?
cheers
marc

The RaceTech valves allow better oil flow and control on damping. As to whether or not they are worth the money, I would say yes. But the question is how much do you weight? Most bikes are setup for 150 lb riders and usually changing to a good fork oil helps a lot. Also I know on the 2G Bandits, they need a fork brace too.

well im about 275lbs
i have uprated the fork springs to a 15% stiffer spring and put uprated oil in it
was looking at a fork brace but still to find one.
also is there any preload kits? my 1s gen bandit seems to dive a bit in initial braking

Superbrace makes a fork brace for the 1G.  Holeshot is at least one source for it.

I thought the 1G B12 had preload adjusters built into the fork tube caps like the 2G does...

How are ya mate, i put race tech valves in and a spring job, and to be honest, i`m not impressed with them,  if i could do it all over again, and some day i will, i`d be do`n a bit more mods by total front end change, so as to be able to adjust rebound and compression to fine tune the way i want,  suppose it all comes down to how you ride, and what you want out of the bike
