I can't believe that's a new model! I can't believe it. "All-new?" All new! Old (stolen) unmodified styling, an OLD DETUNED motor, I'm gonna be sick! And if you really are Bandit owners you will be agreeing with me!

You think the Honda uses an old detuned motor? The Bandit's is MUCH older (1989) - and detuned, too. At least Suzuki bumped up the CC's when they dropped the compression and put in milder cams.

I don't see anything wrong with it's looks.  I'm not a Honda guy, though.  Never have been.

Suzuki...The Fast One!

Oh, and I don't feel like I have an OLD engine when I'm blasting down US75!  Just so I'll know, which Suzy has a completely NEW engine.  What does it have that the Bandit engine doesn't.  Hey, I don't know and I'm not a mechanic.

Yeah but the Bandit's the Bandit. The CBF1000 wants to be the Bandit but can't be. It's been done. And I don't think the Bandit needs to be changed, it's fine how it is. Honda Schmonda.

The sport bikes get all-new engines every 2-4 years. From what I've been reading, the '06 GSXR 600 & 750 will have all-new lumps. The hypersport bikes have to do this to stay on top of the competition. Sporting standards, like the Bandit, don't need to do that. What they have the Bandit doesn't is everything is made as light as possible to reduce rotating mass and lower overall weight. They have pistons with almost no skirts, running in water-cooled blocks with holes in the lower part of the cylinder walls to reduce pumping pressures on the bottom end, titanium valves, fuel injection, and so on...

I predict the new GSR600 phasing out the Bandit 600/650 and a new liter or liter-plus class GSR using either a GSXR1000 or GSX1300R based engine appearing in '07 to do likewise to the B12. While the new 3G B12 has a few improvements over the 2G, it doesn't seem like handling or power improvements are part of the deal, so it will continue to loose out in magazine shoot-outs to more up-to-date bikes like the new 2G FZ1.

On the new engine question:

Quote from: "UK's MCN rag"
Suzuki will be launching a completely new GSX-R600 and GSX-R750 for 2006. Both bikes will share almost identical styling and both will be even more radical than this year’s litre bike.

The all-new engines will be far more compact than the existing ones allowing room for a tiny exhaust to be mounted just below the footpegs.

The new engine will be held by a brand new frame which is expected to be much narrower than the current bike.

The claimed power for the 750 should be over 150bhp while the 600 gets 130bhp.

Those are probably crankshaft horsepower numbers, so subtract 10-15% for rear wheel horsepower. Still, that means the GSXR 600 is putting out numbers at or above a B12 with a slip-on and a jet kit. It won't have the bottom end and mid-range punch of the B12 (or the ergos), but it's a LOT lighter and more agile.
