Hi all! Just bought a 98 B12 in black, stock with the exception of a vance&hines slip on. Just stumbled across the site, looks like alot of tech. info. I could use. I live in NC so if there is anyone in this area that would wanna meet up for a ride that would be awesome.

Thanks Rob. I already checked out the info on the rally and I have to work that weekend. If something happens and I dont have to, all I have to do is jump on the parkway about 30 min. from my house and run up with ya'll.

My name is Hugh, I hail from Johannesburg, South Africa. Just bought a street bike, Naked, Black Bandit 1200.
Haven' had this much fun with my pants on in a long time.

The bike's used, its a grey import from Japan. The mileage was 5000kms (3100 miles) when I got it. Not a scratch, 100% original, still has the toolkit.
Just trying to figure out how to get rid of the electronic restriction.

Hi guys and gals, I haven't been around in a long time, but Larry and I have been lurking. Thought I'd go ahead and re-register.

Say, anybody planning on going over to Barber for the WERA races next weekend? I'm hoping to be riding through northern Alabama with a few friends from out of town, ending up at Barber on the 15th, then Larry and the boys will be coming over Saturday morning for the races. Pete, you gonna be there?

Howdy, Kit!  Say Hi to Larry for me!
Not sure about the WERA race, (maybe!) but for sure for AMA.

Hello all. I have a 93 400 Bandit that has been sitting in the garage. I found your forums while looking for info as I am getting it running to sell. Nice place you have here. I gave up riding when I had kids but the recent gas crunch and slight mid life crisis (bike fever) has me thinking of getting another bike to ride. I rode a Suzuki Katana 750 and ZX-9R for years and will probably get an '03 ZX-9R if I take the plunge again. Anyway, I am in the Atlanta area and just wanted to say hi. Regards, Odin1

Ah, now I see why the site did not recognize my username and password when I tried logging in. It has been on a little vacation since last I visited (November '04?). Well, luckily I was able to re-register under my same username before someone else snatched it

Glad the site back up and running.  :thanks:

The name is Dominick,
the location is New Hampshire

Hi all!
Heard about this site from a friend, had a look around, just had to join!
Bought my 1997 (red) Bandit 1200s from a friend at work, he is now riding a Honda CBR1100 and is in his mid-sixties.
My baby had 18000 miles on it last May, now 28000. I ride the bike EVERY chance that I get as I have some catching up to do after wasting the last ten years :duh:
Previous rides included Yamaha RD350, IT175 (trial bike), various European 125's and 250's...this bike is the best thing that has ever happened to me on 2 wheels, incredible all rounder, lots of guts...thank God for that decision last May!!!
Anyway, don't want to go on too much, have not read the previous 5 pages, but will say Hi to "Huge/Hugh" from Jo'burg, a fellow South African here in Mississippi (born in Cape Town), and another Hi to anyone going to Birmingham on the 22nd as me and my buddy will be there too
Cannot wait until next Friday morning, looking forward to the ride and a chat with people here

Hi, joined the forum yesterday..  looking for additional info, other views  on the Bandit. I'm located in Townsend Ma.

Been riding M/C's since 1963.. Riding my Bandit since May of 03, bought it as a new leftover.   Was a chance buy, went to the dealer to buy another Kaw,  seen the bandit and bought it instead..  Best snap buy I ever made.

Post subject: Hello!!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi every one, just thought I would do what the subject says and introduce myself...

My names Andy 32 years old from Birmingham (some one has to live here)

Started on a yamaha TDR 125 seven months ago then did a das course last week and passed first time :)

I now have a Bandit 600 gsf and I love it! It is a N reg but in immaculate condition for £1400.

It is now i think my learning really starts, and this is why I have joined this forum to pick up hints and help when I need it.

At the moment I am still getting to know my bike and have not pushed it passed 4000 revs in any gear. All my biker friends say I should goto about 8000 to feel the power of the bike but all in good time, as Im in no rush to crash it, as after my 125 this is a differnet kettle of fish.

all the best
Bandit Jap

Welcome aboard! Is your bike bone stock or does it have some mods? Lot of good tips here for improving the bike. Are you handy with a wrench? If you can do the work yourself and have a couple hundred bucks to spare, you can make this bike sing.

Good idea! The only problem with this is that you may go through spark plugs faster. These engines are designed to rev a lot more than that, you are borderline lugging it, which could cause the plugs to foul out and go bad quicker than normal. Still, like you said, better than wrecking!
