how accurate are those times you posted?

I can only base my seat of the pants feeling of my bike's performance (haven't taken it to the track...yet) against my experience driving my car down the strip.  I've got hard numbers on my car's performance, (and raced a couple G35s) and can tell you that my 91 400 feels quicker from a dig to around 50/60, but doesn't pull nearly as hard to 100 as my 12.2 @ 115 1/4 mile car.  So, those magazine numbers seem about right.

Fair is fair. I showed pics of my car, now its your turn.

12.2 @ 115 is insanely fast! :congrats:

1/4 12.640
mph 104.15  this is my time at the drag strip

Theifs time 13.56 @ 96 mph

Just as reference. :beers:

Jay you should add that your race bike is about 100 lbs lighter than a road going bandit  plus i weigh 250  lmao that don't help either   :duh:

Okay that to , my bike is lighter, was restricted and had compression on all four cylinder like around  130-155 psi and a leaking valve job. I was just using it as a reference they are both good times. cheers

This makes me want to get my newly acquired project, 68 AMC Javelin 360ci/Turbo 400, Holly 4bb out to the track for some runs!  Last summer I couldn't seem to get it moving... just spun the tires a LOT!
I've actually read 'Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance'.... it sucked!

Thanks, but I wouldn't call it INSANE.    Gets the family to the grocery store ok.

Nice paint job on the Bandit!  Did you do all that work?  Strip the frame too?

Hehe, I still have that problem under 40 MPH.  And that's with 315mm drag radials on the back!

...I've never had to worry about flipping a car on it's lid from leaving the line hot.

Yeah, me neither.  Well, at least since I installed the wheelie bars.

Never had to go that far. Did have a '65 'Stang that would wheelie though... and I recall an incident while doing some street racing in those foolish days where I thought I was gonna land my car on the back of an AMX...

Thanks, wish I could take the credit.  The previous owner did most of it.  It was immaculate when I bought it...and still is.  :)

Hehe, I'm a couple seconds (not to mention $5k) away from needing bars on my current car.

Those 65 mustangs were so light (compared to my 3800 lb pig).  My bro has offered to swap motors with me to see if his 65 Shelby would like the power increase...I told him I didn't think I could work his 3-on-the-tree shifter into my steering column.

And what are the odds of two unrelated AMC posts on one page...on a Suzuki motorcylcle BBS?  This thread is out of control!   :duh:

your car and bike are beautiful

I know the previous owner takes a lot of credit for the bike, but any info on the passenger seat removal?

Funny... I was thinking the same thing!  I learned to drive on an Eagle and my first car was a Hornet with 3 on the tree.  Both fine pieces of automotive crap.

(Now there's 3 AMC references and two to 3 on the tree!).

 :thanks:

I think the solo cowl is factory Suzuki?  I'm sure someone knows this better than I.  Only been on the bike since October of last year.

It bolts under the front seat via some l-brackets and 2 bolts near the rear to an addon bracket.

I've actually hinged the front and put a magnetic catch on the rear to use it as a limited storage area.  I carry my clear helmet visor and a pair of cold-weather gloves in there.  I'll take some pics if anyone's interested?

Hehe, the Eagle was the bomb!  If I was forced to drive a station wagon (in the early 80's), I would have chosen an Eagle.  Preferably in this trim package!
