SRAD GSXR Front End
« on: September 11, 2009, 09:28:42 PM »
Hi, new member here first time post. First off, i have a 93 400 currently 98% stock. I have been searching the site looking for info on the USD fork swaps for the B4 and i am a little cofused on one thing. I have read you can use the SRAD front end if you change over the B4 stem. I just got hung up one one detail, the SRAD gixxers all use a speed sensor and electric speedo. I want to retain the original Bandit clocks. Is it possible to use an earlier model Gixxer wheel? Or possibly adapt an earlier speedo drive to a newer gixxer wheel? I can't seem to find this info anywhere. Any input would be greatly appreciated

i don't know about the B4, but I did a swap on my B12 with some GSXR1300 forks and retained the stock wheel by buying bearings to fit the bigger axle and making up some spacers. My bike has the electronic speedo, even though my wheel is like all the older wheels and has room for the speedo drive. I'm not sure what the speedo drives look like on bandits, or if it's possible to machine them out to fit on a bigger axle.

Not specific to the B4 but most people do a Veypor set up to fix their speedo issues. I use one on My Hawk 650, FZR 400 and a Chopper I have.

I was thinking of going that route but i really want to retain my stock bandit guages, i like the look of the clocks and the headlight. Thanks for the input though.

I assume that you could use your stock front wheel with only 1 caliper using an older USD GSXR set up (like off the 92 750 or 1100) and keep your B4 clocks. The  front wheel looks to be the same as what's on my GSXR 1100.

Check out Herr Tod's bike in the 250/400 gallery. He has the older USD forks and the bandit clocks installed.

I've got a '93 GSX-R750 front end I'm working on getting onto my '91 B4.  From what I've read doing the entire front end is going to be the easiest...

I've collected more than a few URLs from this forum and others.  Want the links?

A 93 front end should bolt right on without any issues. I need to know if we can re-use the stock front wheel?

Whenever I get the forks (or even just the wheel) off again, I'll take some measurements and swap the various parts around and see what I see.  It'll prolly be a couple of weeks.

That is a possibilty to but i wanted to do the swap so i could have a wider front wheel as well as dual discs.

OK, I never pored through all of it to get a definitive list 'cause I finally found a front end that should work and have a good idea of what shock I already have on my bike (and had it rebuilt), but here's what I collected.  It's prolly overkill and there's additional info there too:
