I am pretty sure I am just going to have to suck it up and tow it into a shop/dealer to get this taken care of but just in case someone has any ideas here goes.

96 Bandit 600 with 8k miles.

It started up with no issues and ran great all the way to work on the 19th just like it had the previous countless days. When I got off work that night I go out to the bike and it will not start. It sounds like the battery is dead and it tried to turn over once, got about a half rotation, and then just clicked when the button was hit.

It threw a set of cables on it and tried to jump it off from a co-workers car and I did get it to turn over somemore but never got it running. I left it alone since it was pitch black and got a ride home. I went back this morning to see about getting it started and in the light of day see I have a nice fuel leak from somewhere.

It is dripping at a pretty steady rate but I did not have tools with me to pull side covers off and such to see where it is from. It is dripping on the ground under the back side of the motor and along the left side swing arm.

Any thoughts before I take it to the shop and trade it in on a Harley since right now those are looking to be more reliable than my Bandit.

Not much fuel in the tank so I doubt it is the vent tube.

Regardless it is at the shop now getting looked at. I had a truck available for a limited window of time this morning and not much time to work on it myself.

Well you do have an escort to beat into the ground.....From first hand experience they are bullet-proof. It is my firm belief we should remanufactue the early 90's model escort and then send them to the troops for protection from ied's and rpg's.

Ahh the Escort is a rally car and not rode legal, insured or registered.

The only reason I bought it was A) it was dirt cheap and B) it is actually a Mazda BP motor identical to the one in my road race Miata and I have tons of time and experience working on and tunning those. Hell even the rear brakes are the same as the early Miata.

But yeah between my daily driver, affectionatly called the ToreAss, the Miata which dispite the race seats and harness is still street legal, and the wifes Honda I can find something to drive.

Bike is still at the shop but being put back together now. Fuel Petcock had a small plastic bit break off inside and jam/tear some of the internals. It filled the chambers with fuel and got a bunch of fuel in the oil.

New Petcock is ordered, oil and filter drained and replaced, plugs checked and replaced, chambers dried out.

Also while there I had the front forks pulled and sent out to Shy Racing Suspension for a rebuild and fork seal replacement.

I am missing a bunch of riding time but the bike should be great when I get her back.
