Has Hydrogen/Frankenbandit come back into the fold here?  I accidentally dumped a jpg file into his ftp and it needs to be deleted.  (No, it's not porn so don't bother looking for it!)

Sorry, but I know just enough to be dangerous. :duh:

Hello Scooter Trash here,
I am new to Suzuki. I just bought a Red 2000 Bandit S1200 for 3K. It is in really good shape. It came with 16,000 miles, Corbin Beetle Bags, Yoshimura Can and was not dropped or abused. I know this because even though I said I was new to Suzuki I am not new to motorcycling. I was an MSF motorcycle safety instructor for 6 years and I currently own a 1996 Harley Davidson Springer Softail with 85,000 miles and a 2004 Harley Davidson Sportster 1200R with 7500 miles (my wife’s bike). In our spare time we are United States Cycling Federation (USCF) Officials. My wife and I officiate at bicycle races. Have you ever seen the Tour de France? Have you noticed all the motorcycles riding along with them? Some of them are officials. Now we are just National officials we haven’t made it to the International level yet so don’t bother looking for us on TV any time soon.

The reason I bought the Bandit was I needed a bike that was more suited to running down mountain roads at 60 and 70 mph. I can do it with the Springer but it is not always enjoyable (read between the lines “fear”). So I went looking for a bike that was more suited for that purpose and this Bandit came available. I love it. It’s a great bike. The only thing I have done was buy a Joe Rocket Tank Bag and replace the windshield with a Rifle 22”. During the races I cannot wear a full-face helmet. I have to be able to talk to the bicyclists as we are running down the road (discussing their indiscretions or attempted indiscretions). I really like the more upright seating position of the Bandit, as most races are 75 to 175 miles long the CBR I tried was hard on my wrists. And besides I’m not the one racing so I really did not need a racing type bike. The Bandit is perfect for this sport. Most of the other officials use BMW’s and I had thought about buying one too. But this bike is a much better.  Happy St. Patty's Day to all.

:welcome: Scooter Trash - and your recycled electrons.  :bigok:

I think you'll find the Bandit well suited to your intended task. .. and may even find it suited for all kinds of pavement travel.

Be aware unkind things are sometimes said about "The Motor Company" and the attitude some of it's more boisterous riders. Try not to take it personally. Even though we may bash Harleys sometimes, it doesn't come up here as often as other sites. Most of us are of the mind, "It doesn't matter what you ride, it's THAT you ride."
And it sure sounds like you're a rider!  :bigok:

I was out at Anacortes, WA a couple years ago on a job and stopped by the local Harley shop to get a tee-shirt. It was raining as it had been for several days and I said to the young lady at the counter, "Man you guys really have some bad weather for riding." She looked at me very sternly and said, "When it comes to riding, there is no such thing as bad weather. Bad clothing yes. Bad weather no." I have never forgotten that conversation and have pretty much lived by it. I ride year round. But I do have a limit which is 35 degrees. Not that I do not have the clothing for it, but because it is getting really close to having ice on the roads. Yes we do ride. I got my wife her new 1200 last May, by September she had 7500 miles on it. We do not own a trailer. As a matter of fact I have a tee-shirt that says, “If you see my bike on a trailer call 911. It’s being stolen.”

Hello all. I'm a long time member over at STN and that site steered me over here for the simple reason that I'm very seriously considering replacing my K1200RS with a naked bike. I'm considering the ZRX1200, the FZ1 and the Bandit 12. What I would like is for some help in deciding. There is likely an obvious bias here, but that's fine. What are strengths and weaknesses of the B12?  :thanks:

Richard
There's nothing sweeter than the feeling I get leaned over in a long sweeper while the sun shines over fields of wind-swept grasses and trees that bracket me, the bike, and the warm lovely sitting tightly against my back.

Welcome to the forum '?'.....  you will find a ton of good stuff about Bandits here.  I might suggest a new thread to address your questions in detail but in the meantime here are a couple of good points.

Great low end power, reasonably priced, low insurance costs, easy to maintain... the list is really longer though.

Bad points....  you take a hit on resale value.

We had some great stuff about this very same thing on the old board and hopefully someone will see this and copy / repost it in the next 10 days or so.
