Greetings. My first post here. This subject that has probably been covered, but I haven't found it in FAQ or here. I got a K8 1250 ABS in May. It had 5,800 miles then, about 7,800 now. A few weeks ago, the off-throttle response briefly got really ragged. It was so bad I though the bike was going to stall. But it recovered as quickly as it appeared, and it hasn't done that since. Fueling might be slightly less smooth than before, but not a problem. The bike starts instantly and runs smoothly. Power, torque, all there. However, since that episode, which occurred about two weeks (and two tanks of gas) ago, fuel consumption has gone from normal (39-46, depending) to not good (31-35). Most of my riding has been daily commuting (10-12 miles round trip).
I've done nothing that would affect mileage. The mechanicals are stock. Tires are properly inflated, and my right wrist is generally under control.
I checked the air filter yesterday. It's very clean. I don't want to pull the plugs yet because the bike is running well, and I don't think the plugs could go bad that quickly. The chain is properly adjusted.
I've been riding daily, so the gas was fresh, but I could have gotten a bad batch. Today I'll siphon out the remaining fuel and replace it with fresh. Of the other possible causes I've seen suggested, the ECU and or O2 sensor seem most likely.
Thoughts? Suggestions?
